Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) can be used to enhance healing after various implant and oral surgery procedures.
Platelet Rich Fibrin
What are Platlet Rich Fibrin treatments?
The PRF procedure was invented by Joseph Choukroun MD of France in 2001. PRF is produced from your own blood meaning it is completely biocompatible. Blood contains platelets, which contain growth factors that help stimulate soft tissue healing. You will have several small vials of your own blood carefully drawn. It is then placed into a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets. This will activate the platelets (make them release their growth factors). PRF can then be placed into an implant site and is also sometimes mixed with bone augmentation biomaterials to enhance their regenerative potential.
