To all my friends and colleagues, there has until now been a sparsity of guidance in our profession on how to operate, what is ‘low risk’ what is ‘essential’. Now I am certain that we must all take every possible action to help beat this virus (and together we will). We will not be seeing ANY patients of ANY age or ‘risk’ UNLESS they are having a dental emergency which my colleagues are unable to manage. We can still be contacted for advice and supportive information and of course to help make arrangements for your patients that have acute infective conditions that need to be managed. …due to the current situation and the ever changing advice we are receiving from our governing bodies we have decided to limit our treatment to urgent oral surgery care only. However, on a positive note, we WILL still see your patients for implant consultations on the condition that they are fit and well and not in isolation. As you are well aware, many clinics throughout England are closing or reducing their surgery time due to uncertainty and lack of direction. We would just like to make you aware that we are still going to be providing emergency oral surgery care for any of your patients who are experiencing pain throughout the upcoming weeks/months. This includes treatments such as extractions and painful implant complications. We are wanting to help take any load and pressure off the NHS hospitals and clinics that we possibly can and of course help the patients who need our care at this time.
